Under Sized Flare Nuts Causing Gas Leaks

Under sized flare nuts causing gas leaks
  • MONTH/YEAR of JOB: JULY 2019
  • CLIENT SUBURB: Ellenbrook
  • CLIENT TESTIMONIAL: 5-stars

Undersized flare nuts are becoming a common problem we see with split system air conditioning in Perth, often due to previous installation work.

Our customer in Ellenbrook had been dealing with ongoing issues from their previous installer. Within a month of the unit being installed, it had leaked its gas and was no longer cooling or heating properly.

The previous installer charged the customer for the call-back and claimed the AC leak was caused by the outdoor unit being moved by the customer. However, the unit had been installed on a wall mount bracket, which should not have been able to move easily.

After the customer asked us to take a look, we found the actual cause of the leak was an undersized flare on the indoor unit. This was an installation issue from the previous installer.

Unfortunately, this job ended up costing the customer nearly double the original installation price due to poor workmanship and the necessary tests not being carried out properly.
